Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is reducing the price of prepaid plans for customers who are recharging through its mobile app - Selfcare. BSNL launched the Selfcare mobile app a few months back, and it looks much like the mobile app of Vodafone Idea (Vi). The telco said that until March 31, 2022, it would offer a 4% discount to users’ prepaid plans recharged through the Selfcare app. Note that the recharge offer is only applicable on plans with denominations of Rs 201 and more....

COAI Asks Subsidy For Telecom Sector Further, COAI in its letter said that if the government or the regulator feel the need for the telecom operators to provide further benefit, then a subsidy should be given to the telecom sector. According to the report, COAI even had suggested the funds for the subsidy could be compensated from the Rs 51,500 crore lying unutilised in the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF)....

The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has thanked the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for coming out with the progressive Right of Way (RoW) rules. The industry body also thanked the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for playing an instrumental role in helping bring about forward-looking measures for the telecom infrastructure in India in coordination with the MoD. Back in 2021, the MoD constituted a committee on the request of COAI to examine the issues that were coming in the deployment of telecom infrastructure in defence lands/cantonment areas, following which suitable modifications in the existing RoW policy could be implemented....
