BSNL plans withdrawal and launch is always a work in progress. However, as of late, BSNL has been intensifying its portfolio rework progress to make its plans more attractive and lure more customers to its network. These changes in the BSNL prepaid portfolio combined with the free SIM and BSNL 4G network is likely to impress the customers to port in from other telecom operators to BSNL. In the latest move, BSNL has made a slight tweak to some of its low price prepaid vouchers and converted them to Special Tariff Vouchers (STVs)....

State-run BSNL has again introduced the free SIM card offer in Chennai and Tamil Nadu telecom circles. As part of this offer, BSNL is issuing free SIM card worth Rs 20 to all new customers, but the only condition is that the customer’s FRC value should be more than Rs 100. The offer is valid from January 8, 2021, to January 16, 2021, said BSNL in an official press release....

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited or BSNL has once again informed the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) that the procurement of local gear for deploying 4G services would create a lot of issues. As per the latest report by ET Telecom, BSNL has told the DoT that forcing it to purchase 4G telecom gear from local vendors will cause delays in rolling out the next-generation services to customers. BSNL also added that the gear from local vendors would be ‘globally unproven’ and that could cause a delay of at least 18 months for rolling out the services....

BSNL Will Allow Chinese Vendors to Participate in the Auction At a time when several countries are banning the usage of telecom equipment from Chinese gear makers like Huawei and ZTE, BSNL says it will allow every vendor to participate in the auction. “We’ll be coming out with an open tender and allow all vendors to participate. No vendors will be excluded, and everybody will be free to participate,” said BSNL Chairman PK Purwar to ET Telecom....
