However, only 15% of consumers do not want their mobile network operator (MNO) to sell eSIMs, compared to 58% who do. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has asked all the telecom operators in the country to remove the pre-call COVID-19 announcements. These pre-call announcements have been playing for the users for more than two years now. The aim was to spread awareness about the coronavirus and how citizens should be safe from it. But after a period of two years, the pre-call recordings have served their purpose and are not needed anymore....

“C-DoT is ready with the technology. The telecom department will approach the minister for its launch after the Parliament session. It should be launched in the next month,” a DoT official told PTI. Huawei has declined to comment, as reported by IANS. Only about two months ago Richard Yu, the CEO of Huawei’s consumer products division had told a German newspaper that the beleaguered Chinese smartphone brand had been prepping a mobile OS as a kind of Plan B if the company ever got cut off by Google from relying on Android, bgr.com reported.
